There Was an Assassin...
5:19 PMmuahahahahahahahaha....
so last night we started another game of assassin....
for those of you unsure of the safety/moral implications of this game. don't worry. here are the instructions that my dear-sweet-friend-and-assassin coordinator Jordan posted on Fbook.
"Each player will be given a name and apartment number of residence of another participant. Their job is to poke that person with a plastic fork (kindly please!) during the week.
If a player fails to poke his/her target within a week, that player is out, considered dead, and loses the game.
Pokes on Sunday (12AM-11:59PM) will not count.
If a player sees his “killer” with a fork IN HAND and says his first AND last name, the killer is killed.
Upon being killed (a.k.a poked) by another player, report the death BY TEXT or via FACEBOOK to either Jordan **** or Christa ******** to be recorded.
The target of a person killed by poking is the new target of the person who poked him/her, that person has a week to kill the new target.
The game will end when there is only one player “alive.” The last two players must stab their victim IN THE BACK."
... super cool right?? I know. it's a blast for sure. so last night, I got this guy Jeff as my first target. I admit I had to Fbook stalk him to see who he was. but later that night, as I was standing with a big group of friends waiting for innocent bistanders to walk by so we could kill them AND as luck would have it, I {well Chantelly} saw Jeff walking towards us. I ran to catch up with my friend Peter {but secretly to walk past Jeff so I could KILL him.} so as Jeff was being super fidgety around Peter, I twisted around and stabbed him in the back with my fork.
done deed, right?
wrong. he stabbed me in the arm at the exact same time.
we both looked at each other and were like "wait, wha?!?" we'd gotten each others names. we argued about who stabbed who first. he claimed he stabbed first, but I said I got him in the back so mine was legit. but the more we thought about it, the more the whole thing just didn't make sense. even if he had killed me first, his next target would have been himself and vice versa if he'd died. so we went and took it up with the assassin-master Jordan.
we explained our situation to him, how there was no way we could have succeeded in this game, no matter who stabbed who first. so instead, he gave us new names and we went on our merry way. Jeff & I basically became besties after trying to kill each other, it was great. we both wished each other better slaughtering luck in the future. hahaha. awesome stuff.
so I went back to my group of friends, which had grown to quite a few by this time {they figured out we were super smart by luring our prey to a super-cool-hangout-party outside}. it actually worked for a few people. Leah killed Eric M., then she killed Eric's target Anna. but it backfired too; obviously Eric died, Tyler died, Paul died. and Leah died this morning on the way to work. got killed by some random none of us even knew. she never had a chance.
but anyways. so last night. once I got back to the big group, my new name was Eric C. he knew I had Jeff at one point, and he'd seen our encounter so he assumed I was dead for sure. as he was frantically trying to keep his back from Leah, I gently tapped him with my fork. game over. which was super funny because: a) when I left Jordan's, both he and Jeff said, "ha. good luck with that one. he's super intense." b) he was super intense- he was walking around with a nerf gun and fearful of basically everyone still alive. and I killed him. :) and c) he thought I was dead. after that he couldn't get over the fact that he was dead, and that a dead person had killed him. he said he was over it, but he called Jordan to give him a hard time about the system and totally kept bringing it up all night, even after I'd left. poor guy. oh well. guess who's still alive? :)
after that and witnessing the deaths of several friends, I decided I had a better chance of surviving if I just went home. not that I wasn't totally enjoying myself out there, I just reeeeeeeeeeally wanted to live past the first day. last winter semester I wasn't so lucky, and everyone outside in that group was dropping like flies.
so I came inside to read "Catching Fire". ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh SUCH a good book. it's not as good as the first one, and I honestly didn't love it until about the middle of the story, but it's still a super good and super quick read.
but it was short lived. my reading was interrupted by Eric C., Kenzie, Paul and Chantelly. but they were all dead so I felt safe hanging out with them. although when Eric was sitting on our couch I was definitely only wearing sweatpants & a tank top. at one point I said "sorry I'm not wearing a shirt." and I didn't think anything of it. now I feel a little weird about it. I did put on a real shirt when Paul came in though so I guess I have some sort of moral compass, even if it is just with Paul.
tonight we're going to see How to Train Your Dragon @ the dollar theater. :) fun times ahead for SURE.
