For those iPhone fans out there, what the best apps around? Right now I've got approximately five pages full, but I still feel like I'm missing out. I've got Facebook & Twitter & LinkedIn & Tumblr & Pandora & Wikipedia & Fandango & IMDB & the scriptures & Dropbox & Evernote & RedBox & Skype & a few camera apps and about 12 different games. But tell me more, friends.

Nicknames. Love em or leave em? I, for one, LOVE nicknames. I realized a few days ago that I use them more than I eat pasta (which is lots). And I love when people find nicknames for me. For whatever reason, nicknames of mine don't stick very well. In h.s. some Hanfordian choir girls used to call me Butter. That was the best/stickiest nickname I ever got. Also.... it was a weird nickname.  But since coming to college my roommate Eliesa calls me Hales from time to time. And my friends Bradwick (that in itself is a nickname) and his girlf Katelyn call me Hay Hay. And I love that.
But I use nicknames sooooooooooooooooo often. Like Warrenzo & Bradwick & Paulie-wog & Dally & Chantelly & Lina & Heidi-bear & Kenz & Eugene & Kels.
What are your feelings on nicknames?

Not taking classes Summer term was seriously the best idea I've ever had. No joke, I was dying a lil bit towards the end there, but good thing it's over!

I had my fabulous wonderful boys Eric, Tyler and Eugene/Kyle come over to help me get all my crap out of my apartment and down to my car. It didn't even all fit in Maggie, so we had to use the back of Eugene's car too.

Yes and I'm the Mexican man waving in the front seat.

Just kidding I TOTALLY wish my car had been this full. Not. But I wish I had at least taken a picture of how full my car was- it was ridiculous to say the least.

I always get so moody when I move. I think it's mostly because I realize how much junk  I own. And that frustrates me to no end. Boo.

And I got all settled in  moved in to the Riv this morning. I'm not so much settled as all my stuff is in  the apartment.... kind of just sitting in the front room..... because the other girl hasn't moved out yet........ dang it they probably hate me already.

But Eugene/Kyle and Heidi helped me get stuff out of my car and up to my new apartment. Amazing how fast it all goes away when you've got three people instead of one.... Hmmm...

Things to be grateful for:
I am DONE with classes
and cleaning checks
and moved in
and it's super sunny and beautiful out today
and I have a full tummy
and great friends
and an iPhone
and I live at the Riv again.

Now I just need groceries.... and to wash my car... and fix her rock chip... and to unpack...

But right now I'm just going to be not-stressed and happy and smiley and all that jazz. :)

ALSO! I get to be reunited with THESE guys tomorrow afternoooooooooooon.

They just left me out in the cold. Eleven years is way to long, boys.

Oh. Ha. And an iPhone. :)
So this week was expensive to say the least.

Sometime, mmmm, end of last week I decided I needed an iPhone. It was to the point where it was a definite need not just a want. As a Public Relations major I needed a smart phone, and iPhone was really my only option.... It really was necessary I swear, Mom.

So I started looking on Craiglist on Monday, and by Tuesday night I had me an iPhone. I bought it from some BYU student living just a few blocks away from my apartment. I paid a good chunk-o-change for it, and it's used, but totally worth it AND I'm only paying $10 a month through T-Mobile. Thank you Brad for being such a wonderful hacker. :)

The iPhone is a beautiful thing and I may have a slight crush on Steve Jobs now. I don't care how many anti-Apple people are out there slash reading this. I love Apple. Always have and always will. So suck on that.

Between a lot of other really unnecessary things I purchased throughout the week (like a buttload of ice cream), I bought a POUND of Salt Water taffy from Macey's on Friday night. They had all these crazy flavors like cookie dough and watermelon and peach and pear and neapolitan and caramel apple and passion fruit, Ashley and I really just couldn't pass up the opportunity. And all those flavors I listed- absolutely fantastic. I seriously didn't pick one bad flavor, it was awesome.

We had gone to Macey's to buy $0.70 ice cream at the deli counter, but we got there like three minutes too late. Boo. Instead we (and by we I mean the friendboys) bought like three 1.5 quart containers of ice cream while I bought a tiny Ben&Jerry's cup for $1 and mooched of some of their's. Also shout out to my friend/classmate/coworker Katie who came and hung out with the Rivierian hooligans on Friday while we watched our Media Law movie/played games/ate ice cream. Super fun to hang out with friends outside of working. We all loved her lots. :)

And then last night I ate more ice cream and watched Anastasia with my friends friends and/or future roommates Meilina and Kenzie. I'm moving into Kenzie's apartment on Friday, and Lina's basically like my unofficial roommate. It was seriously so fun. I was super surprised though- neither of them had seen Anastasia before, and they kind of thought it was creepy scary at some parts. I guess as a child, you just don't think about it... which is weird because usually things are way scarier when you're little. I dunno, I'd never been really creeped out by that movie until I watched it with newbies and they pointed everything out. Some parts are a little Satanic slash demented. Whoops.

But really I'm going on a diet. Okay, not really a diet because every time I say that people think I'm going to turn anorexic because I'm already a pretty small person. I'm just going on a "I need to eat healthier and less junk food/frozen dinners", um, season. And maybe if I blog about it I'll seriously commit to it this time. I'm only going to eat one dessert-type product a week, and only eat three pre-packaged meals like frozen dinners, Pastaroni, etc. Heidi's rule was she could only eat one, but I'm not that brave/strong yet, so my limit is three to start with.

Keep me on it, bloggians. Make sure I don't flounder on this one, okay?

one) happy Memorial Day weekend!! aside from getting sunburnt like the dickens on Monday, I could not have asked for a better weekend. last week I went to the Riv every day minus last Monday, and I spent more than 24 hours at the Riv on Sunday/Monday with all my best girls. 


two) okay, the term "expensive" is relative. I spent more than I wanted to this weekend. I went to Wendy's with the Riv friends on Friday night when I got there and spent way more than I should have. on Monday we went to Sammy's for burgers and shakes. instead, I got a chicken sandwich with grilled chicken, fry sauce, toms, lettuce and pepperjack cheese and a strawberry-mango-pineapple smoothie. YUM.




three) ... it was Memorial Day. do I need to say anymore? best/happiest Monday I've had in a really looooooooong time. no work, no school, no homework, no articles due, no nothing. oh, and lots of sun. :)


four) on Monday morning we all woke up at 10am to play ultimate frisbee/soccer with the rest of our ward. the frisbee team was lacking, so we got tired after about an hour and played soccer with everyone else for the remaining time. shortly after, everyone got in the pool and played water basketball. and I got in the pool! miracle right? my mom still doesn't believe me. too bad I got out of the pool before they started taking pictures so I don't have any real proof that I was ever in the water.




five) sort of self-explanatory. at our sleepover, we had nine girls, five mattresses on the living room floor, one couch, one bed, and about a zillion blankets.




six) when Heidi went missing, we all decided to text her one word of the phrase "where. are. you. Heidi. Bishop. ?", in order. then it turned into "let's text chantelle each letter of her name", then it "kelsey text haley the word h-o-e". but chantelle thought we were spelling out my name so it came through to me as "hole". then chantelle and I, at the same time, texted kelsey the word "s-l-u-t". I did it again on monday night and she thought it was just as hilarious that time too, i promise. :)




seven) I played Pirates of the Caribbean Scene-It, Harry Potter Scene-it, frisbee, Cutthroat, Swedish Twister, Pit, and pool. all within the course of three days. I forgot how much I love playing Pit. I think I just like screaming at people. and even though I harassed everyone all weekend about it, we never played Disney Scene-It. :( 

eight) yeah... i don't need to go into details. but of the nine of us at the sleepover, there were eight different boys involved. five girls like five different boys, one girl likes two boys, two girls like (the same) one boy, and one girl likes no boys. it was awesome.

Okay, for my Daily Universe/News Reporting class, I'm on the Sports Desk covering the Baseball beat. That was my first choice, so I really can't complain. It's been sort of nice in that I really don't have to go out looking for stories. I just do previews and recaps of all the games.

Probly the most frustrating thing for me is the fact that, in seven weeks, we're sposed to write 15 stories.   In about two and a half weeks, I've written twelve. And that's a little bit ridiculous. The past two Wednesdays have been all but Hades for me, and I've had three stories due both days. All the other reporters are totally struggling to even get to two stories a week. NOT FAIR.

But it's been kind of a running joke on our desk that I pick up everyone else's slack. The other sports editors have maybe eight or ten stories done when I'm at twelve. But like at our desk meeting today, someone jokingly said, "Oh, Haley, there's a press conference in like ten minutes, can you cover it?" Because I do that kind of stuff. People rely on me and I get crap done.

Like the Jimmer Fredette story I wrote on Monday. My editor sent out a text at like 10:30 a.m. asking if anyone could cover his press conference at 12:15 p.m. Granted, it was a super cool experience and I don't regret it at all. But once I got back from the conference at like 12:45 p.m., I wrote the story immediately, had it finished and edited by like 2:00 p.m., and it was online by 2:30 p.m. Ri.Di.Cu.Lous. I just do so much more than the other reporters.
