There Was an AWESOME weekend
12:29 PMFact of the Day: I found out on Saturday that Michael Bubbles is ENGAGED!! And not to me. So he can't even sing his song about 'not having met her yet', because he flippin' has!! Jerk.
Fact from this weekend. I got engaged....
Reactions?
Good. Because I didn't really get engaged. Our apartment friend Brad forgot to logout of his email so we sent an email to about half our ward, his parents and grandparents, his UVU counselor (yeah, that one was on accident), and assorted people from his address book telling them that he and I were engaged. We even changed our relationship statuses on Facebook to make it legit. I got about 3 reactions from friends back home. He got about 3000. So this morning our engagement ended. We just weren't meant for each other, I guess.
Another fact from this weekend. My best-cousin Emmaleigh got engaged!!
This one isn't fake. She really did. They're getting married either this summer or next January depending on his job/if he gets transferred/etc. They're SO darling. And her ring is beautiful!! I love life for them.
So this weekend, ha. This weekend was really really fun.
Friday night, I went on a group date with our ward SSP Tyler and some of the guys from his apartment. Ty's a nice enough guy, but I could see it being potentially awkward. Luckily, one of his roommates asked Kelsey and it was a blast! First we went to the Creamery on Ninth (Home Sweet Last-Year-Home) and got dinner. That brought back some awesome memories and I'm glad Kelsey was there so I wasn't totally nostalgic all by my lonesome. Then we went and played 4-on-4 Wallyball** on the racquetball courts in the RB. I was by far the best server (I know right?! I don't do sports!!) After a while we hung blankets over the net so we couldn't see what was going on on the other side! So flippin hard that way, and we couldn't see/make fun of the other team. After we played for a couple of hours, we went back to the boys' apartment and played Clue. Probably the most fun group date I've ever been on. Except my arm is sore.... Don't tell anyone.
**Wallyball=volleyball on a racquetball court with a beach ball from the dollar tree. At least, that's how we played it.
On Saturday, Kelsey and I decided we were gonna go to the 30 Seconds to Mars concert and the Snowboarding Superpipe Finals and Olympic Qualifiers in Park City that night. We texted and invited lots of different people from our ward, but it ended up being me, Kelsey, Alyssa, Tayler, Tyler, Eric, Dylan (all from the date last night), and CJ.
I noticed later that night that there were 4 guys and 4 girls, but it definitely wasn't a group date. The car-riding situation to Park City consisted of me and my roommates and CJ in his car, and Tyler, Eric, and Dylan in the other car. Ha, sad, right? I can only imagine what those other guys were thinking... *grunt grunt* Ughhhhh how did CJ get to ride with all those girls! That's totally not fair... *grunt grunt*
Anyway, I sat in shotgun while CJ drove and the other ladies squished in the back seat. We basically had a Jason Mraz concert on the way up there. He had every flipping Mraz song imaginable and it was wonderful. Tay and I luuuurve Jason Mraz, and apparently CJ does too. Singing along to my most favorite songs ever just made the night that much better.
The drive up the canyon was scary and snowy and slow and I'm SO glad I wasn't driving. Sitting in the front was frightening enough. I had my first experience sliding on the ice in a car, and I felt really dumb/terrified because I didn't know what was going on. But we didn't even die.
When we got to Park City it was FREEZING and awful and snowy and yuck. We had to park super far away and by the time we got there, the concert had just ended and they were announcing the 2010 Olympic Team (which was still cool, but I was bummed about the concert). I only slipped and fell on the ice a couple times for the approximately 3 miles back to the car. My lovely roommates were making fun of me I'm sure.
We all stopped in Heber for 7-11 hot chocolate. When we first got there I thought it was going to be a train wreck. First of all my hot chocolate just came out as brownish hot water with no chocolate flavor at all. Then CJ and Kelsey took all of the shaky-marshmallows. But I think CJ felt bad (because I was really upset about the marshmallows) and asked the store lady if we could get some more. She brought out a brand-new totally-full shaker of marshmallows, refilled the hot chocolate machine, and the world was better. :) On top of that, they had the most delicious and gourmet caramel and white chocolate and raspberry and minty creamers I've ever seen, and cinnamon and chocolate powders to add. I think I put 3 caramel creamers in mine and about 5 in CJ's as we were driving.
New song!! I've been listening to Jason Mraz practically every second of every day (minus Sunday) since Saturday night. "A Beautiful Mess" is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard, and I forgot how much I adore it. Actually, I just plain forgot how much I love Jason Mraz. Wow he's brill.
