So today was the day that I lost a friend/more than friend to the crazy institution known as marriage. Well, engagement, but it's the same thing in my book.
SERIOUSLY?!?!? Wow. I'm only mildly upset right now I promise. But really!??! He was really cute!!
And I highly doubt he's ever going to read this so I'm just gonna spill my guts now. :)

I should have known that he was just a total flirt. With everyone. Which includes me AND his new fiancee (GROSS!). I should have known. Pretty sure Eliesa warned me about this. Or if she didn't verbally, I think she was trying to get that across. JUST like his brother. Except for the engaged part.
So story of this boy- and it might sound totally lame, but just put yourself in my position. This guy is REALLY cute!
But he's an RM. Which I found a little awkward at first. But then I saw just how attractive he was and gave up caring. So, back in like February, I went to go hang out with some girls from my hall, and one thing led to another and we ended up playing Apples to Apples at his apartment. With just him. And five other girls. AWKWARD to say the least... Or so I thought. One night shortly after, he invited me to come play cards with him in his lobby. When I walked down the stairs out the front door, all of my roommates were out in my lobby, looking utterly confused and stunned that I was hanging out with this guy. They didn't even know that we knew each other! But by this time, we really didn't. It was random for me too. Then Speed eventually turned in to "let's see how many of the Star Wars cards characters we can identify". I totally failed, but he knew almost all of them. Then like 8 other people ended up coming out and we just hung out until curfew. I got back and we discussed how TOTALLY random that was, but after that he kept talking to me on Facebook and saying things like, "We should hang out sometime" or "We should get something fun going this weekend". Translation now: He was incredibly bored and knew I was sort of a socialite. He used me to get others together, so HE could have something to do on the weekends other than video games. That next weekend, we went cosmic bowling with a group of like 10 people. It was SO much fun, especially considering I basically just hung out with him that whole night. And we went Uno Bowling (the equivalent of bowling crazy different ways, like upside down, left handed (or right handed if you were left-handed), doing a tour jete & chucking the ball, bounce passing the ball and almost breaking the lane, throwing the bowling ball down the lane while either on someone's back or with someone else on your back, rolling into the bowling ball, slide tackling the ball, etc.) So we just started hanging out a lot. And texting or talking over Facebook. After a few days of joking around, I went over to his apartment to play Mario Cart because I'd never played before. That became an almost every night thing. And even after all of that, I still sucked at it. So we literally would hang out like every day, either watching a movie or playing cards or video games. Towards the end of the semester, I ended up going with him to this presentation he was doing for his grandparents and their friends of his mission. It was the funniest/most memorable audience I've ever seen!! They were so cute and elderly and SO senial. Like this one lady was so stuck on the fact that there were gypsies there, she just wanted to know all about them! I laughed about it for days after.
So just random things like that. We went cosmic bowling again. We watched movies and played Mario Cart. I interviewed him for my anthropology paper. We went to a free showing of Divine Comedy. Translation now: All of this stuff we did was either free or through me. Bowling the second time was free. Divine Comedy was free because I'm in BYUSA. Or things that he loved to do, I just conveniently happened to like him, so he'd drag me into them. Like Mario Cart. Or watching Gladiator (blahhhh terrible movie). Or ME making HIM chicken noodle soup while we watched Prince Caspian.
We also went to this totally lame dance party that I paid for him to go to. But he drove so that made up for a small portion of it.... NOT.
So we went our separate ways after the semester ended. But we were still like texting and emailing and such. Like he texted me while he was driving to California (he's working up north this summer) and he wouldn't tell me his middle name, so when he finally did, he said I owed him a dinner date in the fall. THAT WAS LIKE 3 WEEKS AGO. And now the kid is ENGAGED?!!!???!?!??!?!?
Please, if that makes any sense to anyone, let me know. I'd love to know his logic.

Song of the Day: Breakeven by The Script. As usual. I probably won't get off them for a while. At least, not till the concert tomorrow night. :)

lol This post wasn't even about marriage. It was just about memories my idiot/jerk friend who is GETTING married. But I'm promising right now, after this post I will not write about him ever again. Humph. Take that.

And if for whatever reason the wedding is called off, or it's a fake (which I could totally see him doing), I will erase this post.

So.......
I've been listening to Kelly 95.3 (for my out-of-town friends, it's really the only semi-decent radio in town. And even then, they overplay everything. But they have good concerts sometimes, so I listen.) every day of my life for the past week or so. Ever since I heard them announce that The Script is coming to their Kelly Lounge (once again out-of-townies, these like intimate, small scale private concerts that you can only get tickets to by winning them through the radio station). But to no avail. I always listen when the lame noon girl is on or when Ryan Seacrest is DJing from LA. AKA-No ticket giveaways or even answering the phone.
BUT! This morning. I had to wake up early to take my sisters to school because I need the car this afternoon, and I heard them giving away No Doubt tickets for tomorrow night and decided to call in. Ok, just so you don't get your hopes up, I didn't win the No Doubt tickets. For some people, this would have been a much better ending if I had. But, I was still on the phone when the game ended, so I asked them if they were gonna give away any tickets to The Script this morning, and the DJ, Nikki, was like, "Yeah, do you wanna go?" Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm is that even a question?!?!?!??!?!??!
She straight up gave me four tickets to the concert next Tuesday.

But that doesn't even begin to describe my happiness right now.


Jaime and Erin are for sure gonna go with me, but I have an extra ticket. So, I guess, if anyone's gonna be in town and has a burning desire to go see them with us, give me a shout out.
OH! And it's like a Double Lounge thingy, so they gave us tickets to go see Carolina Liar on June 1st too. I'm excited for that one, but not NEARLY as excited as for The Script. I'm seriously gonna go like 3 hours early so we can get front row. But seriously. Hit me up if you wanna go.

Job Status: I have like 84.5 opportunities but nothing solid yet. I like the way my mom put it... "You have lots of jobs... out here (motions in large circular motions above and around her head), but you're not holding on to any of them yet." Nannying, babysitting for some people in the ward, Firehouse (waitress), Red Brick Pizza, Too Fat Sandwiches, etc. I just need ONE people, so someone needs to call me back (aka Firehouse.... I can't ever get past the stupid front desk hostess woman that's working everytime I try to call. I swear we are going to be worst enemies if I start working there. It's always the same conversation...
Devil lady: "Okay what's your name?" NEWSFLASH. You've answered my call 73 THOUSAND times you should know my name by know, Satan.
Me: I state my name
Devil Lady: "Okay and how do you spell that?"
Me: I calmly spell it, secretly wishing there was a way to telephonically MURDER someone.
Devil Lady: "Okay please hold"
Me: Holding for what feels like ETERNITY. Knowing she's just sitting at her little Desk of Doom laughing at me because I'm on hold while she's pretending to find the manager and tell him I'm on the phone. For the bazillionth time.
Devil Lady: "Alright well he has your number and he said he'll get back to you some time this afternoon."
I hang up. Frustrated once again.
She hangs up. Loving her diabolically manipulative life of making everyone she possibly can miserable. Or at least keeping people from being hired and becoming awesome COMPETITION. Basically she's just hiding in her own self-consciousness and preventing anyone else from threatening her and her blissfully evil life. Well move over, Sister, there's a new, much more competant and much less EVIL hostess at Firehouse. Now I just need some SHIFTS! **There is an F in there I promise.

Ummm I talk to people more? I've talked to all of my ex-roommates at least once whether on the phone or texting or facebook or facebook-chat (very different from talking on facebook). And that fact alone makes me very very happy. Those girls were my universe for the past 7 months, and I miss them terribly. I've also talked to a lot of members of the SuperDorm recently too. I've texted, um, 4 of them. Talked to 2 more on Facebook. I dearly love those boys. My love for them is kind of like a senial old grandmother's love for her grownup grandchildren. (not like I have any experience, but just go with it) She will never deny that she loves them, but can't exactly tell you why. Sometimes they're weird, or dorks, or ultrastudious and no fun to play with, or severely inappropriate, or obnoxious, or frightening, and they're mountains taller than you are and they're hugs could potentially kill you or send you to the emergency room. But that grandmother will always love them. No matter what. And that is my love for the SuperDorm.
I hope they read this.

Other than that, life is boring and full of far too much television. Seriously I am too addicted to my television screen. Lost, American Idol, Castle, Dancing with the Stars, Celebrity Apprentice, and The Amazing Race. It's baaaaad. Thankfully (but very mournfully), The Amazing Race, Celebrity Apprentice, Castle, and Lost are now over (BUT I HAVEN'T SEEN THE FINALE OF LOST SO DON'T SPOIL IT FOR ME). I'll probably have to do my next post on all of my TV shows. That will be a fun one. :) Maybe not for you, but definitely for me.

You know it's so strange being home and having my own bedroom and doing NOTHING all day. I thought I would like it, but I'm getting bored. lol Yes, you can say "I told you so", Mom.

California is WONDERFUL. We've had beautiful weather (like 80 degrees every day) which I never would have expected. I wish it would stay like this all summer... Except it won't.

And then there's my job. Ugh. I'm so sick of job hunting. I've applied at like 15+ places. PF Chang's sounded sort of interested in hiring me, so did Elephant Bar. BJs hated me and all the other applicants there, and CPK was just way to overwhelmed to be hiring. lol These sound like people, not restaurants. I have a job right now with the City of Bakersfield as a program leader for this children's summer day camp, but I'm not even sure how late in the summer that's going to start, and if I want to even have the option of going back to BYU for summer term I need to be making money like right now.

I've been texting BYU friends like C and Warrenzo and Ross and Josh Schmidt and assorted others from time to time, it's just so boring without them!

My fam is great. :) They're always at school and baseball and swim practice and violin/piano lessons so I don't see them very much. But we had some much needed sister bonding last weekend when we went to go see "17 Again", and that was super fun. I'm going to their swim meet later this afternoon. And Dallin's baseball games are AWESOME! He is by far the best pitcher on his team, and he got all 6 outs in the first 2 innings of their last game, either striking them out or getting the grounders. No one got past 2nd base. At the end of the game he got the game ball, which all his cute little teammates signed, it was so cool to be there. On Wednesday, I went to Institute with my dad (BLAH!) and that was basically terrible, but it was good to spend time with him and drink WinCo Chocolate Milk afterwards to help him get rid of his heartburn lol

Newfound ambition for this summer- I REEEEEEALLY want to go see The Fray in Irvine at the end of July. They're playing with Jack's Mannequin (not my favorite, but still, they would be ok) and so Jaime really wants to go too. Now this weekend my mission is to convince my parents to let me drive to LA to see them. :) I think I can do it. And tickets are only $36!! And those are for ACTUAL seats, the lawn seats are only $26, but I figured for the extra $10 we could have real seats and not be fighting people to actually see the stage.

But other than that life is kind of boring sitting at home. I never in a million years thought I'd say that about home, but I don't do anything. It's really strange to just sit and have zero things to do. I'm excited for fall to come again.

Today was the beginning of the end. Josh and MB left today. They were two of my very best friends. And I may never see them again. Warren, Heidi, Kenna, and MC are all leaving tomorrow as well, but I’ll see them around next year. But we went to say goodbye to MatthewBean as his mom and brother helped him pack up some final things and clean the house. I started crying. I kind of thought I might, but I was sort of surprised too. And then after he left Aaron and Josh were pseudo-crying because MatthewBean was gone. Except I felt like they were making fun of me for really crying, but they probably didn’t even know I was. And then JoshWallace came over because Kenna was going to cook his halibut for him. After he’d been there a while he asked, “Hey Haley did you say goodbye to Josh?” I panicked. H and I ran over to their apartment while I texted him to see if he’d left yet. JW said that when he left the apartment, Jacque was just doing his cleaning check so he could leave. I finally got a reply.
Josh- 6:27pm “Yeah sorry Haley”
I didn’t reply.
Josh-6:30pm “Are you mad at me?” Because he knows I always text back.
Haley-6:39pm “A little bit. I’m sure you were in a hurry. I’m just sad more than anything.” Biggest lie EVER I was furiously upset
Josh- 6:40pm “I’m sorry Haley. ☹ Maybe I’ll be able to visit sometime.” The second biggest lie ever. I would bet on my life that he won’t even consider coming to visit me.
I didn’t reply.
I just had to sit in my closet and cry. For almost 2 hours. I texted Ross too and told him that he had better not leave without saying goodbye to me. I kind of told him my situation, but sympathy and accurate story telling are hard through texting.
But I can’t remember the last time I cried that hard. Maybe when my parents told me we were moving to Hanford? Or at least at some point during the Hanford experience. Maybe not even then though. I didn’t even cry this much when my grandpa died. This was like intense sobbing. And I couldn’t make it stop. And I looked disgusting.
When Warren came over to say his goodbyes because he’s leaving early tomorrow morning, I had to walk away because I lost it again. Uncontrollable sobbing. But K came and hugged me and that helped.
But seriously. Worst. Day. Ever.
I can’t imagine BYU without these boys.
I’m probably over exaggerating at the moment, but it’s so much easier than facing the truth. I want to live in my past. I want to live my Freshman year again.

That's it. SO much to do and I just wanted to be distracted for a minute.
But while I'm distracted, let's make a list of everything I have to get done in the next less-than-two weeks.
1) Do 10000 extra credit assignments for Psychology/Music 202/Government. Be a test subject, go to the MOA, go to Easter Conferences, write papers, etc.
2) Read this DUMB chapter for Government. I was super proud of myself because I read it yesterday (or, so I thought) but then I looked again and I read the WRONG chapter. So 50+ pages of my life wasted, and 40+ pages still to go.
3) Take a test. for Religion. Not too hard, but I still have to study.
4) START studying for said test.
5) Start studying for another test next week in Music 202. Aka start listening to a ton of strange 1900s classical music that just sounds like ugly screeching cars to me.
6) Start studying for my zillion finals. Actually four, but I still should have been studying a looong time ago.
7) Figure out when all the review sessions for these finals are going to be and somehow work them in to this schedule.

Things I got done/Fun things in my life
1) Divine Comedy/Pizza Party tomorrow night for all BYUSA volunteers! :)
2) I bought an Easter dress and white heels! Go Easter!

Just add a cute white shrug sweater and brand-spankin' new white heels. :)
3) I watched Prince Caspian (aka Kenna's new boyfriend hahaha) with Ross. It was fun/funny. I forgot how much I liked that movie. And we ate chicken noodle soup/macaroni and cheese for lunch/dinner (linner? dunch?). In other words, he ate chicken noodle soup and my leftover macaroni.
4) I went to a bomb-awesome (can I say "bawesome"? I feel like that should be a word) devo this morning. BYU Combined Choirs performed. Uh. Maze. Ing.
5) Went to one review session :) Only a katrillion more to go.
6) Yesterday I went to this fireside for severely elderly people. And it was the FUNNIEST thing I've ever been to in my entire life. So many great great great old ladies with the best, randomest comments. Seriously, when I grow up I want to be a senial tiny old lady with no cares in the world and obsess over gypsies.
7) Got a new swimsuit!! My mom found it, and sent it to me in my enormous Easter Basket!! :) AKA- if anyone finds a reason to go to the Hot Springs, PLEASE let me know, kay?

Things I wish I was doing
1) Homework (well, not wishing I was doing it, but wishing it was done. But I don't even have that much.)
2) Playing with my family at the beach. Even if it is raining. And I DESPERATELY want to play horseshoes with AJ! :(
3) Eating dinner. Because I ate at like 3pm which was my lunch and now I'm starving again but have an appetite for nothing.
4) Playing in general. Or singing in a car somewhere. Or shopping.
5) Listening to the "Journey Bible" that Aubre let me borrow yesterday that I stupidly left in her car. Saddest thing EVER.
6) Dancing at Studio 600. Because tonight was FREE but it was only country dancing (bleh) so we didn't go.
7) Ummmmmmmm.... cuddling. But that sounds dumb.
