so right now we're trying to figure out where Emmy Christine Daaé Christina is exactly and get her out of this room. there have been notes taped to things, phone numbers found on pipes, websites found behind wallpaper, etc. now we're just waiting for another clue, more pictures or a video.


... and just so you know, I've done lots of other things. like work. and eat. and sleep. and go to an FHE talent show. stuff like that.


in hindsight, I definitely look like a dork being involved in this. but it's mildly captivating, okay!? don't judge me. it's intriguing.

my thoughts and prayers go out to those with flooding and damage in Hawaii & California, but especially those in Japan.

between quakes and aftershocks, a devastating tsunami and threats of a nuclear plant meltdown, I'm incredibly grateful for my current situation and blessings.

Thursday night, I was stressing about a big decision I have to make in the very near future {aka- Monday} as far as my summer plants are concerned. then my sweet mom texted me at like 11:30pm saying to watch the news because Japan was in trouble. then she sent me messages about warnings in Hawaii {where my little sister Jaime is going to school} and to stay in contact with her. they were evacuated from their dorm rooms at 3am and sent to wait for the worst. luckily, her side of the island wasn't hit and the waves that hit Honolulu were smaller than expected.

still. scary stuff.

then that next morning I saw alerts that the waves would hit the US west coast, particularly San Fran, other parts of NorCal, LA, Santa Barbara and Newport Beach. aka- all my stomping grounds & current residence of my favoritefriend Chantelly. I think there was some flooding and damage up north, but less than expected.

again. more scary stuff.

I was so caught up in my own life, and- as devastating as the whole thing is- Japan was a totally needed reality check for me. I spent my entire day at work on Friday doing "tsunami watch" and didn't think about my big near-future decision for more than 3 seconds max.

and I needed that wake up call.

but after scares like that, I'm mostly just grateful everyone I know and love is safe and taken care of. not everyone in the world has that luxury.

then, that same night, Jordan, Peter, this girl Anna, her boyfriend, and this other girl Heather, and I went to see Inception. J It was my second time (but TOTALLY worth it, since the first time I only paid $1, and with the student discount at the Windsong theater up by Tucanos, it was only $5.75!! greatest deal ever.), but Jordan and Peter had never seen it. The reactions on their faces at the very end of the movie when the top started to waver but never fell. I couldn’t stop smiling for like the last 5 minutes of the film because I totally knew what was coming. It was great.

so I'm on my way to San Fran. I promise my next post will be about something in the not-so-distant past. J

Well, technically they haven't happened yet. But I've sure been studying my butt off enough for them to have already occurred.

But on to more important things. AKA Boys.

So, I've already come to terms with the fact that I'm kind of a stalker. Not in like crazy illegal or violent ways, I just know how to find people just by, oh, you know, talking to them on the walk home from campus for ten minutes tops and only learning what state they live in and that they live in my apartment complex somewhere.
 
For example, well I pretty much just told you the story. Girl sees {cute} boy. Boy walks over to girl. Boy talks to girl about who KNOWS what. Finals prolly, I don't even remmber. Boy and girl walk across the street and through 2.5 parking lots together. Girl walks up stairs to apartment. Boy walks home. I didn't get his name, or see what apartment he went in to. But I found out he was from Florida. Somewhere near{ish} Orlando. And as luck would have it, I saw him go in to our complex's laundry room. Good sign, yes?

So that's what I did at work today. I found Boy. :) Who's name turns out to be Tyler. And added him on Facebook. I can pretty much guarantee he won't remember who I am, but I just want to see if he adds me. Then maybe we can have a real friendship.

But I spent all Friday at work and studying. Blehhhh. Yes, kill me now I know. Lamest Friday night ever. But I really didn't feel like doing anything either, so it kind of worked out. Or at least, it was my own fault I was bored. Chantelle and Austin and I watched The Fugitive and my love for Harrison Ford slash hatred for Tommy Lee Jones {not as an actor, but just as a character. He's a terrific actor, but his characters are always trying to kill my men! Not cool Tommy...} was rekindled once more.

My one other even remotely fun thing from this weekend was on Saturday night. Early in the evening, Bryce texted me and asked what I was doing. He ended up coming over that night and watched part of Bourne Supremacy? Ultimatum? whatever the second one is called, I've never seen it, with me, Chantelle, Paul and Kelsey (? Maybe it was Alyssa... they're sort of interchangeable sometimes). But we kind of just ended up watching YouTube videos and chatting throughout it. After Paul left and my roommates went to bed {and Bourne ended}, Bryce and I watched Best of SNL videos till midnight. It was funny, but SNL is kind of awkward/sketchy sometimes. I laughed really hard at those parts. Bryce did not. Yikes.

Bryce also wants to take Dance 184 together next semester. Of course, like all BYU dance classes, there's no openings, but we're just gonna try to add it on the first day of classes. {Except that didn't go over so well if you recall last year's experience that turned me into this.} So we'll see if that ends up happening...

So this weekend. Epic to say the least. I adore Conference. And I officially consider myself a grown up because for the first time since I can remember, I did not once play Conference Bingo. Sad, but it felt good to grow up and take notes like the rest of the adult world.

But PRIOR to Conference weekend, awkward story number one on Friday my friend/love of my teenage life Josh came out for Conference with his fam. He'd been saying for like the past month that when he came out for Conference, he'd stop by our apt for a visit. But Chantelle told me not to have much faith in him. He is sort of a flake when it comes to stuff like that. He said he'd call in the afternoon. So I waited... and waited... and didn't go to the library because I was waiting... and didn't go to the BYU vs. Real Salt Lake soccer game with my roommates because I was waiting... and didn't do any homework because I was waiting... I just sat on my couch and watched wedding shows bad idea number one when you're waiting for the love of your life to call you. Finally, as I'm walking to the football game, he texts me. Asks if he can come over after the game. I should have known. The game was fabulous though. I went with Alyssa and we had an awesome time together. Just the two of us. A fab roommate date. :)

So then he came over that night. With his gf. And it was strange. Because seriously, as excited as I was to see him, I also kinda sorta just barely got over him. And that was rough enough. So that sucked. And his gf was gorgeous and perfect and fun and awesome and cool and everything I really didn't want her to be. And that sucked too.


Awkward story number two. This afternoon, I started walking to the Honors Reading Section of the Leebrary instead of my regular Periodicals section because I was tired of stairs and wanted a comfier chair. Just before I get to the marshmallow-comfy chairs, I saw him. My friend Ross. Well, um, ex-friend? Anyway I haven't seen him yet since coming back to school. And I've been super anxious to see him. Kind of nervous, kind of excited because I still think he's gorgeous, but he's also engaged. So anyway I thought I was going to throw up from excitement/disgust/adrenaline rush/whatever happened inside of me when he looked up and {probably} saw me too, so instead I made a b-line for the not-so-comfy-but-still-okayish chairs in the new No Shh Zone. I still feel used every time I think about him. And I'm super worried that he's going to walk right around that corner and come talk to me. Eew.

Maybe I should just start walking to class now and totally avoid him altogether.... Hmmmm.....

After retelling this story to a friend, I decided it was blogworthy. Even though it's old news, it's still good news. Kenna said "Yeah, I think we should trust our instincts on people like Boy a little more--for our own safety! I know in the eternal perspective he is still a son of God, but on this Earth for our own happiness... he has passed on in my mind."
Heidi said "It's okay. He's not in our ward anymore, he's not our FHE brother anymore, we don't have to be nice to him anymore... Good bye Boy- awkward, uncomfortable, inappropriate person of the past. I try not to think about it because I feel disgusting and totally insulted when I do."

Rewind to Fall 2008.
Meet Boy.

How to describe Boy... Well, he's not from this country. Probably not much taller than me. Dark curly hair that is constantly greasy and dandruffy, giving it the ultimate disgusting-factor. He has bad acne all over his face, and skeleton-bony fingers with loooooooooong yellowy/brown fingernails. And I'm talking REALLY long. Longer than mine at the moment, actually. We have a theory that he doesn't wash his hands. His teeth sort of remind me of a beaver's.... except a whole lot more yellow and brown. It kind of looks like he has braces on, because the plaque has built up so much that it looks like brackets. Yeah, that bad. We have another theory that he doesn't brush his teeth. And that one is a little more substantial. His roommates have never found his toothbrush. Sick, right?
Oh, and he's 26. Living in the Freshman on-campus dorms.
Wrong on SO many levels.
And I also have a personal theory that he is physically incapable of using contractions like "don't" or "can't".

So we first met him at various ward activities. He was veeeeeery outgoing, especially with the ladyfolk, and always had his hi-tech video camera equipment. Because he was making a documentary of the year.
And of course, when we were assigned FHE groups, guess who's apartment we were assigned to? Guess who got to be one of my lovely children?!
Good guess.

He would often come to girl's apartments within our ward, at all hours of the day, proposing the most awkward situations. For example, we had a situation much like this...

Tuesday 1:37pm*
Time and date have been changed for security reasons... Or because I don't remember.
Boy: Hello, is Kenna here?
Haley: Oh no, she's not here right now. She, uh, went to the library to study. **The truthfulness of this statement has yet to be determined
Boy: Oh, well, she said she would be here... More incoherent mumbling to himself... Well what are you doing right now? Do you want to go on a date?

And this happened to LOTS of girls in our hall.
So within our hall, we all had our classic Boy stories to tell. Everyone knew who he was, had been asked out at least once, and none of us had said yes.

So end of Fall semester/beginning of Winter semester, Boy dropped off the face of the earth. He stopped coming to church, stopped coming to FHE, even his roommates hardly ever saw him. Most of us (girls) were relieved that the date offers ended, but as his FHE family, we became a little concerned. Finally we got him to come to some of our activities, and I kind of made it my special assignment to make Boy feel more included.

Bad Idea Number One.

While I was being his friendly mother, he had other ideas. That was when the offers started again. But this time he was more selective. He only asked me. He asked like 5 or 6 times, and I always found some totally bogus excuse not to go out with him.
So then my beloved roommate Chantelle plays the pity card. As much as I love her, this was Bad Idea Number Two. And she feels bad about it now. But she said that I 'should go out with him, just once, because he's been rejected SO many times, by basically every girl he's ever met, and he needs just one thing to go right in his life. Besides, he's been super depressed lately.' Or something like that (and that wasn't a direct quote)


So I called him back that Monday. He planned the date for Friday night/afternoon. All week I was dreading Friday.

But Friday came. And the date started at 4pm. Early, I know. I still wanted to have a Friday night, ya know?? So I walk in to their apartment, and he bought a Roast-beef-onion-mustard-Subway-sandwich and a super-tart-mango-Jamba-Juice. Both of which were almost unbearable to eat/drink. But I figured it was the thought that counts....

So then we watched Dirty Dancing. Bad Idea Number Three. It's a cute movie, definitely a girls'-night-in movie, not a date movie, and especially not a first-date-I-don't-really-know-you-or-like-you-for-that-matter movie. [This is where it started getting bad] He kept laughing at all the super inappropriate and awkward parts. Then he tried to put his arm around me, but he just kept it on the back of the couch behind me so I left it alone. At one point he stroked my cheek with the back of his hand and said, "You're really pretty". I cautiously laughed and sort of ignored the comment, but I was thoroughly creeped out. Then later, I had my hands folded in my lap, twiddling my thumbs, and he reached over, grabbed my thumb and started violently caressing / smashing it to the point that it bruised a couple hours afterwards. My nails were painted purple at the time and he said something like, "Your-nails-are-purple-Do-you-like-purple?-Is-purple-your-favorite-color?" all in one breath. I kinda shrugged that one off too and kept my hands under my legs slash in my armpits from then on. At another point during the movie, his roommate Spencer came in, and he got up off the couch, left to talk to Spencer, and when he came back, Spencer had left again. I have no idea what Boy said, but I was seriously worried.

So the movie finally ended. I tried to come up with any excuse I could to get out of there. But I'd told him I needed to be somewhere at 6:30pm, and it was only 6pm... Then he said, "Oh, but, um, we just watched a dancing movie, don't you want to have a dance?" I politely declined, but he would NOT take no for an answer. So we ended up dancing to "The Time of My Life" by Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes, the song at the end of Dirty Dancing. He kept trying to samba like they do in the end of the movie, but he looked ridiculous, so I kept bouncing back and forth, really making fun of him but just acting like an idiot. He was laughing and said, "I'm glad you are having so much fun". Ummmmm newsflash dude! I'm totally making fun of you right now!!! But he obviously didn't get it.

Then there's another part in the movie, which, if you've ever seen it or seen like a poster for it or anything, it's the part when he's behind her, and her arm is up, and he's like caressing her arm/armpit/side. In the movie she just laughs over and over again because it tickles. But it's like this super-sensual-totally-awkward thing. And yes, of course, this guy tried to get me to do it. He kept on like forcing me to put my arm up and I was like fighting him, not knowing what the heck he was trying to do, then he said, "You know, like the movie!" Oh, and he was singing the song throughout the entire dance, really close up in on my face and very much in my personal space. (ha that rhymed). I looked anywhere other than him, out the window, at the pictures on his wall, at my feet, into his kitchen, down the hallway, at the couch, literally an.y.where that I could. Just not at him.

So the song ended thank goodness, but now only like three minutes have passed and I'm still trying to weasel my way out of the most awkward situation of my life. This time, he like barracaded the door so I couldn't leave. This time, he said, "Oh, well see, I got this karaoke machine because I know that you like to sing because it says so on your Facebook and there is a music video of you and your sister singing on Facebook." Yeah, um, problem. It's mildly okay to stalk people on Facebook, okay not stalk but you know what I mean, check up on them, look at their pictures and such, but you don't tell them that! Unless you're like super close friends and their recent trip to Hawaii that you just spent a brief 45 minutes looking at and reliving through their Facebook pictures just casually comes up in a conversation. Then it's acceptable. This, my friends, was not. So he pulls out the dumb thing, and picks the worst/most awkward/terrible song to sing, "Summer Lovin'" from Grease. Okay, REALLY?! Yes really. I sang it, but with very minimal inflection or pronounciation or emotion or movement or anything. It was the lamest/most boring/monotonous karaoke performance I've ever given. And my eyes never left the TV. He, on the other hand, was waltzing around the room looking like a total freak/whirling dervish hopping on couches while simultaneously serenading me and putting on a one man reenactment of the entire movie. There was one part

in which he was pelvic thrusting during the song. Yes this is a true story I swear.

I cannot even describe the amount of discomfort/fear/confusion/terror I felt then. But I think I was in shock because I didn't leave! The song finally ended after he spent the last few measures of the song serenading me once again at an uncomfortably close distance from my face. Whew. It was over. I forced myself to give him a very small smile. Then he literally threw himself on to me in the strangest, most frightening bear hug I've ever experienced. Everyone that I've reenacted it to has either jumped or screamed or both. It's not the same blogging about it. It's SO much better if I demonstrate in person.

Then I left.

So I got home and screamed for about ten minutes straight. I had a sore throat from it the next day. I told my roommates the entire thing. My roommate Eliesa's only comment was "That was unbelievable! No like really, that's not something you believe! That's like something that happens on a movie!!" And it's true. But believe me it happened. And I'll never be the same because of it.

That night, I got about 15 text messages from him, all saying things like, "Hey what's up/What are you doing tonight?/How are you?" small talk kind of things. I responded to zero. When I got home that night, I found five or six comments on various profile pictures on my Facebook, all saying things like, "Whoa you're so foxy/You're smokin' hot in this one/Mmm that's the way I like it". In other words, extremely inappropriate. By this time I was fearful.

I unfriended him from Facebook that night and deleted all his comments.

So the next morning was General Conference (Saturday session). He kept on calling and texting me during the first session, asking who I was watching Conference with, if I wanted to watch it with him, etc. Once again, he recieved zero responses from me. So then in between morning and afternoon sessions, with the protection of Chantelle, I ventured out to the Creamery to get M&Ms so I could play Conference Bingo. The exact second we walked out and were within sight of Snow Hall, he walks outside. Chantelle started power-walking like one of those super hard-core 80s Jazzersize video tapes on fast forward. We basically sprint to the back of the store, grab the M&Ms, but to no avail. He caught up with us. Chantelly pretty much yanked my arm out of its socket trying to get me to the cashier and out of there (Thanks Chantelle I owe you), but he kept trying to talk to me. And (get this) he just walked around the store, following us. Didn't buy anything, didn't talk to anyone else, just walked in and around and out with us. Yeeeeeeeeeeah so creepy. Finally he asked what I was doing for the second session of Conference. The convo went down like so.

Boy: So what are you doing now?
Haley: Well, I'm going to watch Conference in my apartment with my roommates.
Boy: Oh, well, do you mind if I come over for a visit?
Haley: Uuuuuuuuuuuuh....
At this point I honestly had nothing to say. We were just going to be sitting, watching Conference. Nothing fun, but also not an excuse to say no. :(
Chantelly the Superhero: Uh you can't. She has to help me get ready to go to Salt Lake.
Have I ever mentioned how much I love that girl?!

So then he followed us, AGAIN, this time all the way to our back door. Finally I turned around and said, "Umm kaybye!" and ran up the stairs. He finally left. *exhale*

About twenty minutes later I was on the phone with my mom, telling her about this super traumatic experience when I get a phone call. I ignored it. A long while later, after I'm off the phone with my mom, I hear a beep that I have a voicemail.
Haley's brain: That's weird, I didn't get any calls lately...
Guess who it was. Blaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhh...

I wish I still had the message. It was totally priceless. But I'll summarize. He told me he couldn't stop thinking about me. He wondered if I felt the same way. He asked me to be his girlfriend. For the remaining 4 weeks of the semester. And maybe go back with him to his country for the summer.

Yep. This is still a true story.

I just sat and wanted to cry. I went in and (very accidentally) woke up my only roommate that was home. I went and laid with her on the twin-sized-definitely-made-for-only-one-person bed in our dorm rooms. She wrote me out a script of what I should say when I called him back. I still wasn't even convinced that I was going to call him back.

But I did. And my plan was to call during the Priesthood session so he wouldn't answer and I could just leave a pleasant voicemail. :)

Of course the plan failed. Nothing can go right with this guy.

To sum, again, because I obviously haven't summed enough because this has taken 3 really long posts. I told him I wasn't interested in him, and I was sort of seeing someone else, but that he was a nice guy.

The end, right? Wrong. Biggest wrong possible.

He refused to come to any of the FHE activities after that. He stopped coming to church and church activites. I saw him about 3 weeks later when I was walking back from class with my friend Josh. He refused to make eye contact with me, and said hi (awkwardly) to Josh only after Josh had said 'hey man', 'what's up?', and 'how are you, man?'. Yeah, and Josh even noticed it was super weird.

About a month ago, I got a message on Facebook from my roommate/close friend Heidi...

"The other day I was on Facebook and he started chatting with me, so I was like... okay.. it doesn't hurt to be polite. But then he asked me why I was relieved (because my status was Heidi is relieved) and before I have a chance to answer he's like "Did you find out you started your period so you know you aren't pregnant? That would be a relief" And... oh my gosh... I basically threw up in my heart!!!! AHHH that was like... the most awkward... inappropriate... AHH!!! I told my mom and she was like "that's not okay. that's like sexual harassment! Don't talk to him ever again." And so I unfriended him on Facebook.. Warren says between what he said to me and what happened on Haley's date the stage of being nice is over and we just need to avoid him. And if Warren (who's usually pretty tolerate and nice to people) says that, it must be true, right? Anyway.. I feel.... really violated by him saying that.. *cringe*"

So working technically started last Friday, but we actually started working on site on Monday. It's basically just me and Nichole Henderson. And our boss Rick Smoot. And when he's not there, his picture beautifully drawn by Nichole in Sharpie on a styrofoam plate watches over us. Oh, and the afternoonies that come in and help with lunch/teacher afternoon snack, Rick's son-in-law and daughter/other employee.
We work for Too Fat Sandwiches catering at Sequoia Middle School for their teacher inservices and training days.
Rundown of my seven-hour work day:
Breakfast.
1) Put bagels and muffins/doughnuts and danishes on to pretty plastic trays and set them out.
2) Get out packets of butter, cream cheese, and jelly for the bagels.
3) Set out bowls of apples and bananas
4) Fill a bowl with ice and put in a zillion yogurts.
5) Find the utensils box and put forks, knives, and napkins into wicker baskets at the end of the tables
6) Put the individual-sized cereal boxes into a large bowl.
7) Fill a bowl with ice and throw in a gallon of milk.
8) Take frozen juice boxes out of the freezer, put them in a foil pan, and pray they turn into juice not slushies by the time the teachers come.
9) Rick puts out the toasters some time during all this.
10) Get out creamers, sugar, tea bags, and stir sticks for the coffee and tea.
11) Take plastic wrap off the scones and melon. Oh yeah, put out the tin of scones and bowl of melon.
12) Fill up a bus tub with ice and throw in some water bottles so the picky teacher folks can have their cold water. Psh whatever.
13) Double check that everything is out. Today we forgot the juices and some crazy was severely upset.
14) Breathe.
15) Fetch the bus tubs from the classrooms from the day before. (more to come about those...)
Then the teachers come. Usually from 7:20 to 8:00am. We restock everything several times. Especially doughnuts, yogurts, milk gallons, utensils, bagels, and juices. Teachers eat much yogurts. And that part SUCKS.
Some time during breakfast Rick heads back to the restaurant to get ready for lunchie lunch. Then after they leave for their classes, we breathe some more. Today we had dance parties/karyoke with Nichole's iPod & iHome. That was fun. We got all the way through her playlist of a trillion songs. From Billy Joel to Billy Joel.
Then they come back in for their "morning break". Basically another chance for them to gorge themselves with crap food. And yogurts. We restock some, but not as much. Whatever's out is what they get pretty much.
And that part is only crazy because we get crazies asking what's for lunch (when sometimes we don't even know) and asking why the coffee or melon is gone. Ummmmmmm you're eating lunch in like an hour! Get over it!! Dumb-Dummyheads.
So then after the endless amount of teachers get their 2nd breakfast/"morning snack" we clear everything out. Oh, and Rick comes back with lunch. In the cafeteria, one table becomes two. One breakfast line becomes four. Inevitably, there are a gajillion doughnuts and some muffins leftover from breakfast.
Lunchie-Lunch.
1) Set out utensils. Forks, knives, spoons sometimes, napkins, and plates.
2) Set out salt and pepper and butter cups.
3) Bring out varying numbers of chaffing dishes. Monday we used 8, yesterday only 4, and today 6. And Rick told us tomorrow we're using 8 again.
4) Make salad. (BEST PART OF THE ENTIRE DAY)*
5) Separate rolls and throw them in a bowl.
6) Usually drain water from ice bowl and restock ice and water bottles. But we do that several times a day not just at lunch.
7) Fill bowls with ranch and italian dressings and various condiments. Today for the deep pit we used BBQ sauce and salsa.
8) Open freezer box with the sodas so the teachers can get to them without asking us ever 4.7 seconds.
9) Cut (often times sucky frozen) cakes/separate brownies/scoop pudding/do whatever's needed for dessert that day and put them on little dessert plates to go out front.
10) Umm... I think that's it. Breathe again. Oh! But all prep is doubled because there are now TWO tables, not just one. Suuuuuck.
* Making salad is the best part of my day. Not restocking it, but the initial preparation of it. Okay these bowls are fan.tas.tic. Like 3+ feet wide. FILLED with salad. And we mix them by hand. I feel like a kid in a sandbox with these salad bowls. Except I never liked sandboxes as a child, so maybe this is my proxy sandbox.
So lunchtime=lots more restocking. We restock salad probably 4 times, rolls about the same, utensils and plates at least twice, dressings a lot too. And we don't even deal with the main dishes. Rick & the afternoonies deal with all of that. After all the groups of teachers go through the line, Nichole and I get lunch. :) Another good part of the day. We get Monday-chicken and tri-tip , Tuesday-lasagna, Wednesday-deep pit, Thursday-enchiladas, & Friday-sandwiches. After we eat, Nichole and I start washing dishes/minimal clean up, and Rick & the afternoonies eat. Then the teachers leave and we clear everything out/clean up/wash much dishes.
Once the cafeteria is clear, we start the "afternoon snack delivery". Basically we put brownies/granola bars/rice crispies/cookies (depending on what day it is) into plastic sandwich boxes, and load up the requested amount of water bottles into the bus tubs and deliver them to the individual classes. Now remember, this stuff is delivered less than an hour after the biggest lunch/buffet they've maybe had in years. Teachers are eating machines and severely obese because of it. So we deliver the bus tubs full of goodies. Yesterday when we were delivering the rice crispies, one crazy basically snatched the plastic tin out of my hands so she could be sure to get a crispie treat, not a granola bar, because we had half granola bars & half crispie treats.
Clean-up time! Usually there's a few dishes to be done, a few counters to be wiped off, a few boxes of salad or buckets of dressing still out from lunch to be put away, a few random water bottles outs. Seriously, we never know where they come from or who's they are. They just appear.
OH! And a few doughnuts still not eaten. Let me rephrase that, a few HUNDRED doughnuts leftover from breakfast still. And they stay out aaaaaaaaaaall day, barely touched, and then get trashed at about 2pm. Sad for doughnuts huh? NO!! Not sad! If you saw or understood the amount of doughnuts we have every morning, you would probably cry. And they're not even great! They make us (me and Nichole) sick. So we are on a No-Doughnut Diet as of tomorrow. Doughnuts=Satan.

So today was the day that I lost a friend/more than friend to the crazy institution known as marriage. Well, engagement, but it's the same thing in my book.
SERIOUSLY?!?!? Wow. I'm only mildly upset right now I promise. But really!??! He was really cute!!
And I highly doubt he's ever going to read this so I'm just gonna spill my guts now. :)

I should have known that he was just a total flirt. With everyone. Which includes me AND his new fiancee (GROSS!). I should have known. Pretty sure Eliesa warned me about this. Or if she didn't verbally, I think she was trying to get that across. JUST like his brother. Except for the engaged part.
So story of this boy- and it might sound totally lame, but just put yourself in my position. This guy is REALLY cute!
But he's an RM. Which I found a little awkward at first. But then I saw just how attractive he was and gave up caring. So, back in like February, I went to go hang out with some girls from my hall, and one thing led to another and we ended up playing Apples to Apples at his apartment. With just him. And five other girls. AWKWARD to say the least... Or so I thought. One night shortly after, he invited me to come play cards with him in his lobby. When I walked down the stairs out the front door, all of my roommates were out in my lobby, looking utterly confused and stunned that I was hanging out with this guy. They didn't even know that we knew each other! But by this time, we really didn't. It was random for me too. Then Speed eventually turned in to "let's see how many of the Star Wars cards characters we can identify". I totally failed, but he knew almost all of them. Then like 8 other people ended up coming out and we just hung out until curfew. I got back and we discussed how TOTALLY random that was, but after that he kept talking to me on Facebook and saying things like, "We should hang out sometime" or "We should get something fun going this weekend". Translation now: He was incredibly bored and knew I was sort of a socialite. He used me to get others together, so HE could have something to do on the weekends other than video games. That next weekend, we went cosmic bowling with a group of like 10 people. It was SO much fun, especially considering I basically just hung out with him that whole night. And we went Uno Bowling (the equivalent of bowling crazy different ways, like upside down, left handed (or right handed if you were left-handed), doing a tour jete & chucking the ball, bounce passing the ball and almost breaking the lane, throwing the bowling ball down the lane while either on someone's back or with someone else on your back, rolling into the bowling ball, slide tackling the ball, etc.) So we just started hanging out a lot. And texting or talking over Facebook. After a few days of joking around, I went over to his apartment to play Mario Cart because I'd never played before. That became an almost every night thing. And even after all of that, I still sucked at it. So we literally would hang out like every day, either watching a movie or playing cards or video games. Towards the end of the semester, I ended up going with him to this presentation he was doing for his grandparents and their friends of his mission. It was the funniest/most memorable audience I've ever seen!! They were so cute and elderly and SO senial. Like this one lady was so stuck on the fact that there were gypsies there, she just wanted to know all about them! I laughed about it for days after.
So just random things like that. We went cosmic bowling again. We watched movies and played Mario Cart. I interviewed him for my anthropology paper. We went to a free showing of Divine Comedy. Translation now: All of this stuff we did was either free or through me. Bowling the second time was free. Divine Comedy was free because I'm in BYUSA. Or things that he loved to do, I just conveniently happened to like him, so he'd drag me into them. Like Mario Cart. Or watching Gladiator (blahhhh terrible movie). Or ME making HIM chicken noodle soup while we watched Prince Caspian.
We also went to this totally lame dance party that I paid for him to go to. But he drove so that made up for a small portion of it.... NOT.
So we went our separate ways after the semester ended. But we were still like texting and emailing and such. Like he texted me while he was driving to California (he's working up north this summer) and he wouldn't tell me his middle name, so when he finally did, he said I owed him a dinner date in the fall. THAT WAS LIKE 3 WEEKS AGO. And now the kid is ENGAGED?!!!???!?!??!?!?
Please, if that makes any sense to anyone, let me know. I'd love to know his logic.

lol This post wasn't even about marriage. It was just about memories my idiot/jerk friend who is GETTING married. But I'm promising right now, after this post I will not write about him ever again. Humph. Take that.

And if for whatever reason the wedding is called off, or it's a fake (which I could totally see him doing), I will erase this post.

Job Status: I have like 84.5 opportunities but nothing solid yet. I like the way my mom put it... "You have lots of jobs... out here (motions in large circular motions above and around her head), but you're not holding on to any of them yet." Nannying, babysitting for some people in the ward, Firehouse (waitress), Red Brick Pizza, Too Fat Sandwiches, etc. I just need ONE people, so someone needs to call me back (aka Firehouse.... I can't ever get past the stupid front desk hostess woman that's working everytime I try to call. I swear we are going to be worst enemies if I start working there. It's always the same conversation...
Devil lady: "Okay what's your name?" NEWSFLASH. You've answered my call 73 THOUSAND times you should know my name by know, Satan.
Me: I state my name
Devil Lady: "Okay and how do you spell that?"
Me: I calmly spell it, secretly wishing there was a way to telephonically MURDER someone.
Devil Lady: "Okay please hold"
Me: Holding for what feels like ETERNITY. Knowing she's just sitting at her little Desk of Doom laughing at me because I'm on hold while she's pretending to find the manager and tell him I'm on the phone. For the bazillionth time.
Devil Lady: "Alright well he has your number and he said he'll get back to you some time this afternoon."
I hang up. Frustrated once again.
She hangs up. Loving her diabolically manipulative life of making everyone she possibly can miserable. Or at least keeping people from being hired and becoming awesome COMPETITION. Basically she's just hiding in her own self-consciousness and preventing anyone else from threatening her and her blissfully evil life. Well move over, Sister, there's a new, much more competant and much less EVIL hostess at Firehouse. Now I just need some SHIFTS! **There is an F in there I promise.

Ummm I talk to people more? I've talked to all of my ex-roommates at least once whether on the phone or texting or facebook or facebook-chat (very different from talking on facebook). And that fact alone makes me very very happy. Those girls were my universe for the past 7 months, and I miss them terribly. I've also talked to a lot of members of the SuperDorm recently too. I've texted, um, 4 of them. Talked to 2 more on Facebook. I dearly love those boys. My love for them is kind of like a senial old grandmother's love for her grownup grandchildren. (not like I have any experience, but just go with it) She will never deny that she loves them, but can't exactly tell you why. Sometimes they're weird, or dorks, or ultrastudious and no fun to play with, or severely inappropriate, or obnoxious, or frightening, and they're mountains taller than you are and they're hugs could potentially kill you or send you to the emergency room. But that grandmother will always love them. No matter what. And that is my love for the SuperDorm.
I hope they read this.

Other than that, life is boring and full of far too much television. Seriously I am too addicted to my television screen. Lost, American Idol, Castle, Dancing with the Stars, Celebrity Apprentice, and The Amazing Race. It's baaaaad. Thankfully (but very mournfully), The Amazing Race, Celebrity Apprentice, Castle, and Lost are now over (BUT I HAVEN'T SEEN THE FINALE OF LOST SO DON'T SPOIL IT FOR ME). I'll probably have to do my next post on all of my TV shows. That will be a fun one. :) Maybe not for you, but definitely for me.
