when I was like 8
we put together 72-hour-kits for family night
our D.C. director asked that we bring one out for the summer, just to be safe.
so I pulled out this one from under my bed
and laughed.
yes that's a truly vintage Pocahontas backpack.
inside it had
- a candle
- waterproof matches
- water bottles
- space blanket
- a bar of soap
- socks
- a fork
- a compass
- a pocketknife
- a tupperware bowl
you know. good emergency kit things. and then came the laughs.
- first of all, it was a Pocahontas backpack, from 1998.
- a ziploc full of crayons
- scratch paper for coloring (there was a General Conference talk on the other side)
- my mom's old girls camp sweatshirt
- a wind-up toy Meeko (also from Pocahontas)
good things for an 8 year old.
... don't worry. it's being updated for D.C. :) but I have to say I miss being 8.

i totally had that backpack. except i had mine in first grade. it was the best, i got comments on it alllll the time.
