There was an Airplane

12:59 AM

So, I'm sorry it has been a while since I last posted.  My family and I whisked away to Walt Disney World for the past week. It was fabulous and fun and awesome and… cold. More than anything else it was cold.

I’m on my last flight home right now. Somehow my mom “accidentially” (we’ll never know if it was a real accident or if she planned it because she loves me soooooo much) booked me for first class tickets on the flight(s) home today, yes, I’ve had three flights today-West Palm Beach to Atlanta, Hotlanta to Memphis, and Memphis to SL,UT. But I guess I can’t complain since it is first class (incentive for my mom? I think so too). I am currently the only female out of the 12 passengers in first class.  It seriously feels way too formal up here. Everyone in first class is travelling on business to somewhere for something important. Psh! I’m just flying back to college!! The lady on my first flight actually asked me, “Yeah, what’re YOU doing in first class??” I was only a little offended.

And we just had dinner. If you’re ever flying first class and have a dinner choice between a Greek chicken salad and a turkey ciabatta sandwich… pick the sandwich. The salad was WEEEEEIRD!! It was the bitterest (is that a word?? Spell check’s saying it is…) thing I’ve ever eaten in my life. I ate tofu. Yes. It was disgusting and tasted like chalky grossness. I also ate green olives, lots of raw peppers and onions and weirdly garnished chicken. Bleck. I can still kind of taste it. Luckily they gave us some fruit and a cookie too. OH! And on all the flights I’ve been on, all 5 in the past 7 days, I’ve had apple juice to drink. And that’s a shoutout to my M Com class. Everytime I sit in that class I crave apple juice now because we talked about it once and Matt actually went out to a vending machine and bought some. So hopefully after 8 glasses of it in the past week I’ve had my fill for a while.

Maybe I should report on Disney too, yeah? Yeah. My flight is so long, sorry this post is forever.

We went to Magic Kingdom on Wednesday, Hollywood Studios on Thursday, Epcot on Friday, and Animal Kingdom on Saturday.

Magic Kingdom in Florida just wasn’t as good as Disneyland. Not as many rides. No Matter Horn, no Indiana Jones, no Mr. Toad, and it was Cinderella’s castle, not Sleeping Beauty’s, which was odd to see. But we went on all the classics, Pirates, Haunted Mansion, Thunder Mountain, Space Mountain (which DID NOT play music, my mom and I were upset), etc., and that was fun. Oh and Splash Mountain was closed for construction (?). I was, uh, disappointed… Sort of. (PS That means I wasn’t sad at all. Don’t tell my brothers.)

Hollywood Studios was okay (and when I say “okay”, I really mean it was AWESOME, because it was Disney World and I wasn’t at school), but we basically just liked the Pixar area with the Toy Story shooting-things-game ride and Rock N’ Roller Coaster. The Pixar plaza was full of larger than life toys and characters. There were army men marching up and down the streets, and we got a picture with one of them (the nicer one, one of them kept running away from me, even when I marched right next to him). We waited almost an hour for the Toy Story ride, but it was totally worth it. The waiting area inside for the ride is all decorated like Andy’s bedroom with huge Lincoln Logs and a Candyland board game and Barrel of Monkeys hanging from everything and giant blocks and a life-sized Mr. Potato Head that talks to youThe ride itself was all in 3D, and you get to shoot virtual sheep, throw pies at targets, pop balloons, and toss rings on army men to earn points.  So so so much fun. Dallin kicked my trash though. And we went on Rock N’ Roller Coaster three times. The first time, Dallin, Erin & I were waiting for everyone to get Fast Passes when this lady came up and said, “Here, want passes for right now? We have three extra.” I’m pretty sure Jaime was sooooo furious. But we were thrilled and it was SO much fun! They play great Aerosmith music while you’re on the ride, and it was SO fast!! The second time we went, Jaime, Erin, Dallin, and this stranger man next to us knew the entire intro video by heart and they were reciting it. Pretty sure they became best friends after that. The only parts I know are when the manager says, “I hate all of you” and “Sorry folks, we gotta go!” But we ended up buying our pictures from the ride when all seven of us went on it the third time. They turned out so good. And no, I did not go on Tower of Terror while I was there. J Neither did my mom or dad. It’s seriously the dumbest ride ever, especially if you don’t like drops (AKA-me)

Epcot was really cool but VERY cold and rainy. It felt like hurricane weather, it was so windy and rainy and awful.  We only made it to about half of the countries, but we got funny pictures with some characters. They also had lots of interactive stuff in the park like a really fun and cute build-your-own-roller-coaster-and-virtually-ride-it machine that Dallin and I did and a space-race-power-your-spaceship-by-doing-puzzles competition that my mom and I played. They also had lots of “green” games like power-the-city-by-moving-energy-source-logos-across-the-floor-with-a-curling-broom and learn-to-recycle-with-all-these-fun-Waste-Management-sponsored-games and drive-this-high-tech-ecofriendly-car-video-game-and-save-the-city-from-the-bad-guy. They were cute. Spaceship Earth was inside the actual Epcot golf ball and it was kind of fun, but Mission Space was really cool. It’s sposed to be a space shuttle trip to Mars, and I was the Navigator. J I totally felt nauseus for like 30 minutes after, though. But we only stayed in the park for a few hours when we were expecting to stay all day, so that was sad.

And we had kind of bad weather in Animal Kingdom too. When we got there at about 11am, it was super overcast and felt like it was 12 degrees outside! I had on gloves and a beanie and two sweatshirts, it was ridiculous. But after a few hours, there wasn’t a cloud in the sky and the sun was shining away. This was also the only park where we all got to hang out with Chloe, Tanner, Grandma, Kevin, Fran, and baby Megan. Grandpa, Uncle Wade and Aunt London were too cold so they went home and we got Aunt London’s warm clothes. J But the only ride I went on all day was Expedition Everest, and we went four times. It was broken when we got to the ride, but it was fixed within a few minutes and somehow we got on the first train after it was fixed. Awesome awesome ride. When Chloe and Tanner and Kevin were explaining it, it sounded just like Matter Horn: a roller coaster, on a snowy mountain, with a yeti, outdoor coaster with no upside downs or loops, sounds familiar right? Oh my gosh WRONG! This ride was so intense!!! When we went the first time, Jaime and I were in the very back cart and at one point the ride stops and shows twisted-mangled tracks ahead. I seriously thought the ride broke again-apparently so did Jaime-but then it started going BACKWARDS. And that’s SUPPOSED to happen!!! It was pitch dark, but I swore we went upside down a couple times, even if Kevin said we didn’t. So so awesome. And fast and spinny and WONDERFUL. I love fast rides. Not big drop-ish or intense make-you-want-to-die rides, just the low-to-the-ground-Speedy-Gonzales-a-few-small-drops-here-and-there-are-fine-but-just-give-me-some-spins-and-speed rides. On Everest there’s one big Splash Mountain-ish drop where they take your picture, and I made the same face of death every time. We also got to eat at Rainforest Café with our entire family. J I love that place.

But can we please do a quick Music Tuesday? Good. I miss it too.

“Naïve” by Lily Allen.

First of all I ADORE Lily Allen. Yes some of her songs are on the crude side, but she’s hilarious and brilliant. She’s like Katy Perry only less, um, girl-kissing. But I fell in love with this song about 2 weeks ago when my roommates were watching Angus, Thongs, and Perfect Snogging. If you want to see the weirdest British film EVER, go watch that. The makeout boy could have been James, no lie.  So anyway, it was originally by The Kooks and I’ve heard that version on Kelsey’s iPod before. They’re both really good, but I like Lily’s more. Just because it’s Lily.

Also I learned from my airplane boarding music & magazine that MoZella has a new album out… Mmm, love? Yes please! Stay tuned for that next time!!
