the #hawaiitrip

There is photographic evidence that I went to Hawaii as a baby, but I don't remember any of it. So because I've been dying to go ever since my sister went to BYU Hawaii and would come back with these amazing stories, my roommate Emily and our neighbor/friend Allison and I went to Oahu for a week.

I'm still not totally sure why we came back.

Disclaimer - this post will have a million pictures.

Panoramic of Turtle Bay

Gorgeous Turtle Bay!

Shave Ice at Matsumoto's

Crazy Peacock in Haleiwa!!

Pipeline Beach on the North Shore

Sharks Cove

Snorkels make people look like idiots. But snorkeling is AWESOME. I've never felt more like a mermaid in my life.

And these fish are CRAZY. I accidentally swam into a school of fish - and they didn't care!! Emily saw a turtle swimming about three feet from her and it almost crashed in to Allison in the water!

Battle wounds from hitting tons of rocks and coral while snorkeling.

Lanikai. Most gorgeous beach that no one has ever heard of.

More white sand at Lanikai.

Guys - this is against the highway in Hawaii. Insane.

Laie Temple.

Such gorgeous grounds.

Nice lady at the Swap Meet gave us a single flower to put in our hair. AKA - I'm single.

Magical hair clip flowers that can create the prettiest updos with zero bobby pins!! You know I totally bought one.

Great coconut man at the Swap Meet

You drink the milk inside and then he cuts it in half and you eat the gooey soft meat inside.

The U.S.S. Arizona Memorial

We look so happy and tan!!

Turtle we found at Turtle Bay!

He was turtle #7 of the trip. We saw like three when we went kayaking in Haleiwa the first day (one of them may or may not have been dead), one swam with us while we were snorkeling at Sharks Cove, two more at Lanikai and this one at Turtle Bay.

Aloha!

Turtle Bay

The BEST pie on the whole planet. Chocolate Haupia (basically a coconut jello) is DIVINE.

So I bought an entire pie. No regrets :)

Crazy coconut man who REALLY did not want anyone trespassing or stealing his coconuts.

Laie Falls.

Don't let anyone try to tell you this is a nature walk. I'm seriously surprised how decent I look in this picture. It rained on us the entire hike - up a mountain - for eight miles.

I was really depressed about the lack of employees at the smoothie truck when I wanted a smoothie.

Tree hugging only in Hawaii.

Sunset Beach

Crowded Waikiki. But we got to lay out a lot, Canoe Surf (basically boogie boarding in a canoe) and parasail!

Parasailing!!

Going up!

This was hands down my favorite thing we did all trip.

About to get dipped in the water.

The HUGEST sting ray I've ever seen. This picture doesn't do it justice but this thing was like four feet wide and maybe seven feet long. TERRIFYING.

Hands down BEST food all trip. The coconut macadamia nut shrimp changed my life forever.

My best Haka face and Maori tattoo from the Polynesian Cultural Center

Easter Island heads from the PCC

My favorite Tahitian man. Mmmm.

My favorite. The Hawaiian sunsets were unbelievable.
